Vanessa a native of New Zealand has lived in Japan for over 20 years. Vanessa does not stand still and is always looking for ways to improve the status quo. Highly action oriented she is continually working on the process of what do I know - so what does that mean – now what do I do? Unafraid of exploring the newer methodologies in an effort to be ever better. Vanessa has a strong passion for the end to end process of research, innovation, entrepreneurial thinking and the change that technology can bring. She is a frequent judge, coach and mentor for Startup Weekend Tokyo as she has a passion for developing the next generation of entrepreneurs and researchers. From Discovery Research for early prototyping to launch she has worked through all the processes and been involved with the consumer led development of many successful launches and game-changing integrated marketing campaigns in Japan in her roles with insights and strategy teams. As Senior Director at Phillip Morris, Vice President at Coca-Cola, and in Brand Marketing for the running category and General Management for Women's Category at Nike Japan she has always made the consumer at the heart of the conversation. She is passionate about the role that technology can offer to better serve the consumer. Vanessa is the President and Founder of Heart Data Inc. and the Asia Pacific Lead for AI and Machine Learning marketing insights company machine Vantage. Vanessa also serves on the board of WIRe as her passion has long been about ensuring equality and development of the next generation. Her current ”other” passions are her ”boys” (husband and 2 sons) marathon running and raising awareness and charity finance for cancer societies.
